Our Beliefs

We believe that God is our creator, loves us and longs to have a relationship with us.

However because of our sinful nature we are separated from him and no amount of good works or religious activity can bridge the gap between us.

The good news is that God took the initiative and sent his only Son, Jesus, from heaven to earth. He lived a sinless life and demonstrated that he was the long awaited Jewish Messiah and Saviour of the world. He died on the cross as a substitute for us, bearing the consequences of our sins. He was then raised to life again, ascended into heaven and sent the Holy Spirit. So how should we respond to this expression of love? Each one of us can receive God’s gift of grace. We do this by turning back to the Father confessing our sins, secondly, we acknowledge that Jesus died for us and place our faith in his saving work. Thirdly we ask for the Holy Spirit to fill us which makes us spiritually alive. Finally we seek to follow Jesus and look to the bible as our guide for everyday life.

Diamonds Scotland represents many different Christian churches across Scotland. We believe that this is positive and affirm that despite our churches having varying backgrounds and ways of doing things, we believe that as Christians we are called to unity, working together for the greater purpose of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and we believe the same fundamental aspects of the Christian faith no matter what church background we are from.

Therefore the Diamonds Scotland team is diverse in its nature, building greater unity amongst the churches across our country. Diamonds Scotland team affirms all that is stated in The Nicene Creed and affirm that it was pulled together for the purpose of unity of for church across the world.

The Nicene Creed

The Nicene Creed states that:

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen
